Blue Cloud Magic Smoothie with Vanilla Protein and Blue Spirulina

This is not your average smoothie.

The Blue Cloud Magic Smoothie is bright, creamy, refreshing, and honestly kind of mesmerizing. It gets its dreamy blue color from blue spirulina, also known as blue algae, and blends together vanilla protein powder, chia seeds, hemp seeds, lactose-free yogurt, almond milk, lemon juice, and fresh ginger.

It’s giving wellness café. It’s giving ocean cloud. It’s giving “wait… you made that at home?”

And yes, there’s a video that pairs with this recipe, so you can watch exactly how to make the coconut yogurt swirl and blend everything until smooth and creamy.

Why You’ll Love This Blue Cloud Magic Smoothie

This smoothie is:

  • Creamy, refreshing, and lightly tangy.
  • Made with vanilla protein powder for a more satisfying smoothie.
  • Naturally blue from blue spirulina.
  • Blended with chia seeds and hemp seeds for added texture and plant-based nutrition.
  • Brightened with fresh lemon juice and ginger for a clean, refreshing finish.
  • Finished with a coconut yogurt swirl for that smoothie-shop look at home.
  • It’s colorful, fun, and surprisingly simple.

What Is Blue Spirulina?

Blue spirulina, sometimes called blue algae, is what gives this smoothie its bright blue color. It has a mild flavor compared to green spirulina, which makes it easier to use in smoothies without overpowering the recipe.

A little goes a long way. Start with 1/2 teaspoon if you want a softer blue color, or use closer to 1 teaspoon for a bolder, brighter smoothie.

What Does Blue Cloud Magic Taste Like?

This smoothie has a creamy vanilla base with a bright lemon-ginger finish.

The vanilla protein powder and yogurt make it smooth and lightly sweet. The lemon juice adds freshness. The ginger gives it a tiny kick. The blue spirulina adds color without making the smoothie taste overly “green.”

It’s refreshing, creamy, and just a little magical.

What Protein Powder Should I Use?

A vanilla protein powder works best in this smoothie because it balances the lemon, ginger, and blue spirulina while keeping the flavor soft and creamy.

Better Blends Vanilla Protein Powder is a great option if you want a protein powder made with sensitive bellies in mind. It blends easily into smoothies and helps make this recipe more satisfying without taking over the flavor.

Ingredients

  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder
  • 1/2–1 tsp blue spirulina, also called blue algae
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds
  • 1 tbsp hemp seeds
  • 1/4 cup lactose-free yogurt
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1–2 tbsp fresh lemon juice

  • A few spoonfuls coconut yogurt, for the glass

How To Make It

Step 1: Prep the Glass

Add a few spoonfuls of coconut yogurt to the inside of your glass. Use the back of a spoon to spread it along the sides.

This gives the smoothie that soft, cloud-like swirl once you pour in the blue smoothie.

Step 2: Blend the Smoothie

Add the vanilla protein powder, blue spirulina, chia seeds, hemp seeds, lactose-free yogurt, almond milk, lemon juice, and fresh grated ginger to a blender.

Blend until very smooth and creamy.

Step 3: Pour and Serve

Pour the smoothie into the prepared glass and serve immediately.
